There was an auction of art in The Halpern Gallery (272 High Street, Chatham, ME4 4BP) on the 14th of September at 2.00pm with the intention of raising money to support Helen James in her heroic battle against cancer.  The Auction raised £7,777.77 and everything was sold.

Helen is only 36 and, a while ago, was diagnosed with lung cancer (despite never having smoked) which she was told was incurable but is currently stable due to treatments that Helen has chosen to follow. She also has separate breast cancer which has recently metastasised into her lymph glands .

She has decided to take an alternative and holistic approach to treatment.  This is a groundbreaking therapy that uses health as its basis. It involves turmeric injections, vitamin C injections and localised hypothermia.

Helen believes that an integrated approach to cancer treatment is the way forward, combining conventional therapies with diet, exercise, supplements, lifestyle changes and emotional release work .
This has the huge benefit of supporting the body and mind through conventional treatments.

She is attending the Care Oncology Clinic in Harley Street that is currently running trials using off label drugs to block the metabolic receptors in cancer.

The cost is quite considerable but she has already managed to raise over £20,000 through crowdfunding. Ideally she needs to find another £30,000.

Helen has recently moved to Medway to be with her fiance
She was previously in London where she was a musician, playing the trumpet in most of the concert halls in the capital. She now teaches Equipment Pilates and works with people with injuries, muscular/skeletal pain as well as people recovering from surgery, also with cancer patients and conditions such as fibromyalgia .

She is passionate about the importance of treating the whole client mind body and spirit.  This is something she loves doing and about which she is passionate. She is rapidly building a reputation here and already has a good number of regular clients in the area.  She and her partner are planning to get married next year.

A number of very fine artists have offered work for this auction and we are particularly delighted to have had a piece donated by Eileen Cooper OBE RA.  The artists have all agreed to donate all the proceeds to Helen. What is extraordinary is that only five of them know her personally. It is a moving testament to the artistic community but, more importantly, to the wonderful community of Medway.

Helen has said that she has never known support like it in her life.
